Industrial park

Perceived in 1994 by Targu-Mures Airport manager- Mr. Petru Stefan Runcan together with IPTANA SA Bucharest experts as a Free Economic Zone, attracting investors and investments in the area, during 2003 the project turned to be Industrial Park runned by Mures County Council.

The Industrial park is located on the North side of Targu-Mures Airport, on an area of 20.1 ha, between Targu-Mures Airport runway and Targu-Mures - Razboieni railway, having direct connection to E60 road, as well. This project had been designed by IPTANA SA Bucharest, which had also provided the feasibility study for Free Zone in 1994, the costs of the project being estimated at 6.8 million EURO, financed by PHARE funds in amount of 4.99 million EURO; Mures County Council with 0.04 million EURO and Romanian Government with 1.67 million EURO.

The international auction was gained by German Group GEIGER, which is going to provide, in a short time, facilities for those who want to invest and exploit the natural resources of the area. The great response obtained from investors all over the world, made Mures County Council to provide other 20 ha for the development of the Industrial Park.

   Cargo Zone

Targu-Mures Airport Strategy for Development promoted by Targu Mures Executive Board is based on a rational exploitation of touristic potential through charter flights, economic potential with rich natural resources and cheap qualified labour hand and cargo flights.

The Industrial Park near Targu Mures Airport, going to be realized by GEIGER GERMAN GROUP, starting with March 2004 creates a center of goods and industrial products, which together with agricultural products and other products already worldwide known (leather, textile, medicine, furniture, etc) needs to be traded on domestic as well as on international market. Taking in consideration the connexion in a single point of road transport (E 60) at 100 meters, railway transport ( Targu-Mures - Razboieni link) - 600 meters, the air traffic of Targu Mures Airport will have a great future, especially if we consider the cargo transport.

That’s why, together with GAC Hamburg, the German Group Drees & Sommer provided a feasibility study for Targu Mures Airport Cargo Zone, planned to be set up near the Industrial Park on a surface of 4.5 ha. The costs of the project are estimated at 12 million EURO. During 2003 is going to be made a project supported financially by UE sources or a business partner. Till this project is going to be finally set up the tour-operators serving the Cargo Zone will be chosen.
